In a context in which structured information on Marinas and the Nautical Sector in Portugal, is not abundant, responding positively to the challenge launched by the ICOMIA World Marinas Conference 2023, to gather statistical information on Marinas and the Nautical Sector in Portugal, Skipper & Wool prepared a survey aimed at all Marinas and Recreational Ports, and researched various sources of relevant statistical information on Nautical Recreational, including institutions of reference such as INE –Instituto Nacional de Estatística, DGRM – Direção Geral de Recursos Naturais, Segurança e Serviços Marítimos, Turismo de Portugal, I.P. and APPR – Associação Portuguesa de Portos de Recreio.
This research took place during the months of August and September 2023 and had a very significant participation from Portuguese Marinas and Ports. The focus of this research was on analyzing the evolution of the activity in recent years, trying to quantify the evolution of the sector in terms of revenue as well as its strengths and challenges for improvement.
